Elderly Care
At Help at Home, our elderly care ranges from simple practical support with everyday life tasks, like cooking, cleaning and general help, to personal care, nursing support and helping with medications. Often enough, our care assistants help with day trips, social visits and seeing friends and family as well. Not only do we assist with clients who may be more on the frail side but we also support those with age-related health conditions like dementia and Parkinson’s disease.
Help at Home’s services for older people are highly-personalised. Each care programme is bespoke to a client, taking into account their particular needs and requirements. We also consider what they’d like in terms of the care they receive. This person-centred approach gives our older clients more choice and control over how their care support is administered.
Additionally, each Help at Home care assistant is specifically paired with a client based on the help they require and the carers skill-set.
Physical & Learning Disabilities
Assisting people across the East Midlands with a range of differing physical & cognitive disabilities, Help at Home is on-hand to assist clients with an array of daily tasks like personal care, cooking meals, laundry, shopping, housework or simply managing admin at home. Along with more ‘general’ support, promoting independence amongst our clients is a key part of their care, both inside and outside the home, while we simultaneously encourage clients to live as active lives as possible, too.
Each client’s care plan is built around them. We consult with families, medical practitioners and often friends to ensure that plan is bespoke. This is what we term ‘person-centred’ support, ultimately helping our clients to feel that they’re not only central to their care, through the choices and input they have, but also in control of how their care is administered.
Our carers are specially-matched according a client’s needs, requirements and preferences. We want both our clients and their families to know that their care assistant is going to be the best possible fit considering a carer is not only their to help out but be a companionship as well.
We help children along with adults. With extra background checks and specialist training for our childcare staff, we do our best to help younger customers have the best start in life, doing our bit to offer them fun-filled and active childhoods.
If one of our carers is the position of looking after a client who is unable to make choices for themselves, that carer will do so in the client’s best interests. We see the person before a disability, even when a client’s behaviour may be very challenging. Our care assistants receive extensive training in aiding people who exhibit behaviour that is challenging to manage. However, we always keep the rights, dignity and safety of our clients front and centre.
Live-in Care
In those cases where a client requires increased support but still wants to maintain a level of independence within the home they’ve likely known for a long time, Help at Home provides live-in care solutions.
By opting for live-in care, a client still has control of their day-to-day life but with the added assistance of a carer to help with general daily chores. Help at Home’s carers are all trained to aid in a variety of household activities, from personal care to meal preparation, and will also be available to help with specific health-related requirements.
With live-in care, we’re well aware that it’s a big adjustment and so will always look to make that process as easy and comfortable as we can for you or a loved one. That process begins with not only finding a carer who has the right skill-set and training for a specific client, but ensuring they’re the right personality type, too, so that a real, lasting relationship is built.
Reablement
Illness, an accident or even a prolonged stay in hospital can have a terrible impact on someone’s confidence, let alone health and physical strength. At Help at Home, our specialist reablement teams understand that completely, backed by years of experience in getting people back ‘on to their feet’. Working with physical therapists, nursing staff, physios and a range of healthcare professionals, we very well-versed in aiding clients recuperate and regain independence.
From the outset, and in collaboration with clients, we set out the goals they’re looking to achieve over the course of their rehabilitation. Setting these kinds of goals helps achieve milestones and progressively improve in skill, ability and confidence. Each reablement plan will be adjusted as the client progresses and improves until we hit the goals initially set-out.
If you, a family member or friend have reablement needs, talk to Help at Home about how we can assist.
